Microblading Aftercare: How To Take Care Of Your Eyebrows

The most popular solution in treating misshaped or thinning eyebrows nowadays is called microblading, also known as micro-stroking. It’s a cosmetic procedure that can improve your brow appearance, involving plenty of tiny strokes to implant pigments into your skin. It creates the texture and shape that looks like your natural eyebrows.

The results of microblading can last up to 18 months, making it very appealing even to celebrities. It’s claimed to be a safe procedure but since it involves cutting into your skin for implanting the semi-permanent tattoos, some aftercare and upkeep are necessary to make it a success. The skin in your microbladed area will become sensitive after the procedure so proper skincare is required to avoid any potential complications. So, here’s how to take care of your eyebrows after microblading.

Proper Ways To Take Care Of Your Microbladed Eyebrows

Right after the procedure, the pigment applied to your brows will look darker than usual and the microbladed area will turn red due to the cuts made. This is quite normal so don’t worry. Two hours after, remove any excess dye by running a wet sterilized cotton ball. It can also keep your eyebrows sterile. The entire microblading healing process can take several weeks and the actual rate depends on how well you perform the aftercare during this period.

Microblading aftercare during the first week

The skincare during the first week is the most critical for the success of your microblading healing process. At this recovery period, make sure to apply the cream recommended by your artist to your brows daily. This is to avoid any infections and always keep your brows free from water, soap, makeup and lotion.

You might think this would be so hard to follow but it’s not if you just commit yourself to it. There are many ways to still wash your face or your hair without getting your microbladed brows wet. You may use a damp sponge to clean your face and you can try using a good dry shampoo for a week. Or better yet, you can ask someone you live with to wash your hair on the sink so that you don’t get your eyebrows wet. There are good alternatives really and it’s just for one week if you want to achieve the best results.

Also, during this first week, don’t get panick if your brows may show some slight redness or feel tender. You may also experience some flaking off or itchiness. These are all just part of the healing process at this stage and will be gone.

Microblading aftercare during the second week

Now that you’ve gone through the aftercare needed for the first week, you are seven days to go for a complete healing. During this second week, avoid doing any activities that can get you wet or cause you to sweat. These include bathing in hot tubs, doing saunas, exposure to sun or tanning beds.

In addition, don’t apply glycolic acid or retin-A to your face, undergo chemical peels or laser treatments, and avoid too much alcohol. Of course, you might forget you’ve had microblading for a time and may touch, pick or rub your brows as a casual gesture. That’s also not allowed so be extra mindful. And always keep your hair away from your eyebrows.

Some Upkeep To Keep In Mind

So, by now you’re thinking that it really takes a significant amount of dedication to take care of your eyebrows after microblading. It may sound that way but once you set your mind on it, the adjustment you need to do is not that hard and the results are all worth your effort.

Finally, even if your brows have fully healed, continue on taking protective measures to keep the look of your brows stay at its best longer. You can use a SPF 30 sunblock product on your brows to prevent quick fading and don’t use a foundation over them to prevent lightening. Sticking to these aftercare and skincare tips will surely give you the best eyebrows ever.

Lash Lift vs. Eyelash Extensions: What You Need To Know

Nothing can beat the capacity of a big, full eyelashes when it comes to brightening up your look, no matter how great you are at putting on eyeshadows. So, you are very lucky if you are born with those naturally fluttery lashes. If not, don’t lose hope because there are different ways to still have a fuller, longer curl eyelashes. The two common treatments are the lash lift and eyelash extensions.

While both are designed to complement your natural beauty and give you luscious lashes, there are stark differences between the two. The major distinction is that you can think of a lash lift like a push-up bra for your lashes to enhance its natural lash by using a silicone rod, setting lotion, and eyelash tint. An eyelash extensions, on the other hand, is basically like a hair extensions where semi-permanent synthetic eyelashes are glued to the top of your actual lashes to create any look you want.

To better understand each lash treatment and decide which one to choose, here are the other important things you need to know about them.

Differentiating The Treatment Process

Lash lift: The entire procedure can take only about an hour to finish and there’s no extra preparation required. A specially shaped silicone shields are used to lift your natural lashes with the aid of creams. The result you get is a semi-permanent lift that enhances the look of your natural lash, giving you a fuller and curler lashes. It can also include a lash tint in the end, if you want, so that your lashes even look much fuller and more luscious. The treatment can last for about 6-8 weeks.

Eyelash extensions: Since this treatment can use different shapes, lengths, and curls of falsies, you need to decide which one you’d go for the effect you want. The whole process usually takes longer, around one hour and a half to two or more hours. It depends on what kind of look you want and dramatic lashes typically requires more time to apply. A silicone patches will be placed under your eyes to hide the bottom lashes and then a technician will fuse each of the lash extension to the top of your natural eyelash, going one by one. It can last for up to 3 weeks until a refill is required.

Comparing The Aftercare or Upkeep Required

Lash lift: You would be happy to know that this enhancement needs very little to no maintenance until you want a re-lift. Just don’t forget to allow 24 hours after the procedure before you can wash them. This is necessary to let the applied treatment set in. Apart from that, you can do your usual beauty regime all the way through, and wearing a mascara (if you have to) is even not an issue. And just like what you do with your hair, applying a serum or oil on your lifted lashes is encouraged for conditioning and hydration.

Eyelash extensions: Same with a lash lift, you have to let 24 hours passed first before you can wash or do anything with your lash extensions. But unlike a lift, you should not use certain types of makeup on your lids and lashes, such as oil-based products, as they can damage the adhesive used to attach the extensions. They would fall off, requiring you to go back to your technician for a redo.

Other Essential Aspects To Compare

Both lash treatments won’t cause you any pain or uncomfortable feeling during the actual procedure. You just have to lie down on your back and let the expert do the job. However, it has been deemed that eyelash extensions done improperly by untrained technician may stress or cause damage to your natural lashes. This is not the case with a lash lift since there’s no adhesive applied, only gentle creams.

And of course, let’s not forget about the cost. On the average, lash lifting can range between $120 and $170, while lash extensions can cost you around $100 to more than $200.  You can book you lash lift here now.

There you have it! You be the judge which enhancement suits you best but it’s quite obvious why many consider a lash lift their thing.

3 Things To Know About Your Microblading Artist

Are you a victim of an over-plucked, thinning eyebrow trend during the ‘90s? Then you might have heard about the hottest eyebrow trend of today – microblading. It is a treatment that forms a semi-permanent brow makeup using ink that penetrates into your skin, creating a thicker eyebrow shape you want.

The result of microblading looks very natural while giving fuller and better-shaped brows. It can be your saving grace from the abuse of plucking and putting on massive makeup on your eyebrows. However, since this treatment involves a technical process of actually cutting into your skin similar to tattooing, you must take careful considerations when going after it.

One major thing you should consider is to get to know who would be the one performing the actual procedure on your brows. With that, here are the three things to know about the microblading artist you choose.

Is Your Microblading Artist Licensed And Certified?

Licenses and certifications are very crucial not only as legal matters but more importantly to ensure your safety. Virtually all state require license for the microblading artists to conduct this procedure. So, if the technician you have first come up with does not have a license, you must take it as a red flag. They are not doing it legally.

Next to being licensed is being properly certified. While training requirements vary by state, go for an artist who has specific microblading trainings. The process involved in traditional permanent makeup differs than that in microblading. A technician may have enough training for traditional makeup procedure but you should ensure to look for certificates specific for microblading training.

Only when your microblading artist possesses those two credentials that you can be confident about the result of the treatment.

Is Your Microblading Artist Honest And Open On What You’re Asking

If you have any questions in mind don’t hesitate to ask and a good microblading artist should answer all your queries. He or she should show you the pigments and tools used to perform the procedure and be transparent about everything related to microblading. In case you sense something is quite not right, always trust your gut feeling. But of course, don’t expect that the technician is available all the time to respond to all your questions, more so, great microblading artists are often busy.

Being honest and open also means listening to what you’re going to say since it’s your face in the first place. You should agree on the color, shape and design of the brow before the treatment starts. However, since it’s the artist who knows better about microblading than you do, he can refuse to agree with something you want if it’s dangerous or won’t look appropriate on your face. After all, it’s the artist’s knowledge and expertise that what you’re paying for.

Does Your Microblading Artist Has Happy Clients

Once you have checked on those two previous considerations, you’re on your way to finding the best microblading artist but don’t forget this last one major thing. A good artist should have happy clients served before you. You can learn this through reading their reviews and take note of what they’re saying about the entire process until the results they get in the end.  You should take a look for reviews on Facebook, Yelp, and online booking platform.

Another alternative to know what to expect from your microblading artist is looking a the before and after photos of the previous clients. Remember that microblading is a combination of science and art, the reason why the technician is also called as an artist. It means each of these artists has their own style of performing the art of microblading, and you should like the style of your own artist. In this way, you won’t have any regrets afterwards.
Overall, if you sum up all those things into one common denominator, you should feel comfortable with your microblading artist. After all, it’s your face and the key reason why you want to try microblading is to look more beautiful and not the other way around.

What is a Lash Lift

Eyelashes can be very important to some people because they are believed to be part of the overall look that one wants to achieve.

Due to the demand of having gorgeous looking eyelashes, there have been several procedures and products that were made to ensure that anyone can have the best set of eyelashes that suits them. Eyelash extensions and false eyelashes a.k.a.falsies have already been in the market for so long. But this new procedure that we will talk about have eyelash lovers raving.

The lash lift is one of the latest method that makes your eyelashes look done in no time. It is like a perm for the lashes – similar to the usual perm for the hair that has become a thing in the 80s.

The Lash Lift Procedure

The procedure starts with the preparation of your lashes. They should be clean, so it is preferred that there is no product applied to your lashes (i.e. mascara).

A silicon shield is placed on your eyelids and the eyelash technician places adhesive on it so that when the eyelashes are brushed upwards, it holds its shape.

A lifting cream is applied to the eyelashes and is left there for about 8-12 minutes depending on the hair quality. Some eyelashes, just like actual hair on the head, differ greatly in characteristic such as some are difficult to curl hence, the longer process of lash lifting. The lifting cream is responsible for keeping the shape of the eyelashes up after the procedure.

After that, a setting lotion is applied for about 5 minutes. Some more pampering products like nourishing oil are applied to the lash line as well as the lashes and then the silicon shield is lifted leaving you with naturally curled lashes.

Benefits of a Lash Lift

Compared to other procedures that give you more defined lashes, a lash lift can be considered more safe and convenient to be done. A lash lift only requires approximately an hour of your time where you just lie down and may take a nap. The lifting cream and lotion applied to your lashes are safe for the eyes, as well as the other creams that are applied to give your lash line some extra pampering and care.

Putting on makeup can be a lot easier, too. You just worry about how you apply your eyeshadow and eyeliner with your lashes are already curled.  You also save a few minutes by not using the lash curler anymore. You can also go about your day without putting on makeup because your lash lift already makes you ready for the day or you can still add a pop of mascara to increase volume and length of your already pretty eyelashes.

It does not involve using glue (unlike in eyelash extensions) that can be irritating to the eyes. Since fake hair-like strands are adhered to the real eyelashes, there is a tendency that the extensions fall off with the real eyelashes. Sometimes, when all the extensions are gone, you are left with no actual eyelashes, too. You have to grow them back, which usually takes a couple of weeks.

It saves you from the stress and time of putting up these falsies only to be detached from your lash line after a few hours. You also do not worry about both ends of the falsies being unattached which leaves you having that annoying feeling of something dangling on your eyes.

Overall, the lash lift can be comparable to the former procedures of enhancing your look by giving you more defined eyelashes without too much time consumption and hassle. It gives you a more natural look because it just improves the shape of your actual lashes, which makes you realize that you have better eyelashes that you have thought of. If you are looking for the service don’t just visit any nail spa, find someone who specializes in the service and has done the proper training like The Microblading Brow Studio has done!
